Minto names 3,800-acre project in Palm Beach County

Minto Communities will call its 3,800-acre project in western Palm Beach County by the name Westlake.

The development along Seminole Pratt Whitney Road in the Acreage area could have over 4,500 homes and 2.1 million square feet of commercial and civic space. However, 55 percent of the property would be open spaces such as parks and lakes. It’s currently a farm. It would have a town center design.

It’s one of the few remaining major tracts for single-family home development in South Florida.

“The vision for Westlake is to create a community that complements the surrounding environment,” Minto Communities President Mike Belmont said.

Minto VP John Carter said the lawsuit disputing the project has now been resolved and state officials ruled that its development plan was in compliance with local regulations. He plans to secure permits for the first 550 homes and the road work in the next 60 to 90 days.
