Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s Advanced Pediatric Care Pavilion tops off

The Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s pediatric care pavilion has been topped off, nearly four years after groundbreaking.

The Miami Children’s Health Foundation’s $150 million fundraising campaign Together For The Children celebrated a significant milestone Wednesday afternoon with the topping off of the Advanced Pediatric Care Pavilion on the Miami hospital’s campus.

Interior and exterior work remains now that the pavilion is topped off, and the structure is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2016. The hospital’s three intensive care units – cardiac, neonatal and pediatric – will be relocated to the pavilion.

“With this new facility, we will be able to impact and give hope to close to thousands of children on a yearly basis,” Lucy Morillo, president and CEO of the Miami Children’s Health Foundation, said. “Our goal is not only to help these children recover from illnesses, but to give them the resources they need to reach important milestones and achieve their full potential in health and in life.”

Patients in the pavilion will receive care in private rooms. In addition to the pavilion, the fundraising campaign will help fund the expansion of the hospital’s Emergency Department and expand telehealth networks.

The Miami Children’s Hospitals was renamed the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital following a $60 million donation from the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation and its founders, golf-legened Jack Nicklaus and Barbara Nicklaus.
